I am looking to buy a set of valve covers and I came across a set of used ones for about half the price then new ones. So what I’m asking is, is this a part I can buy used without and consequences? I’m just looking on ways to save some money being as I’m furloughed. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Why would you need new valve covers ? are you talking about the plastic coil covers instead?

no, where the bolt threads into the valve cover to hold down the coil covers has been pulled out and a mechanic told me water was leaking into my coil wells and shorting my coils out.

He's full of it. I had a couple of those sleeves start spinning in the hole a couple of plug changes ago. I just removed the sleeve, cleaned out the hole and sleeve and used JB weld to re-seat the sleeves. The hole where the sleeve lives does NOT penetrate through the valve cover. This is a pretty easy DIY job, as is the plug/coil change.

Federal furlough? Sorry dude; ESPECIALLY as 85% of the gummint is still "open". I'm just thankful I was always "essential" and now that I'm retired I don't have to be concerned. Seems CSRS is indefinitely/permanently funded!!! It's good to have the same benefits as Congress!!

The mechanic told me thats how water was getting in my wells. they were leaking through the coil covers because the covers werent seal correctly. but also i noticed my windshield cowl seal is not sealed and i think thats the main cause of the leaaking. would yall agree? i mean my wells are half way full of water. not anti freeze. just pure water.

Including the health care benefit?

Yup..... No Obamacare for me!!!!

Yes, 100%. There is a seal that's supposed to go around the base of the driver's wiper. There is a thread here somewhere on it.......

Do yall know what the seal is called? i will order that soon, but will i need to
find someway to seal the coil covers or will 3 bolts do fine?

Three bolts should be okay. You can glue your inserts back in and use all the bolts. Even with all the bolts in, you will still have water getting in until you fix the wiper cowl seals.

Would you happen to have the part #? And is there a thread on here that can give me step by step instructions?

i had to glue one back in as well with jb weld, no problems since.
