would it be better to just go aftermarket? maybe some pioneers? what size do they have to be 6x9's? thanks again

They run off of a factory amp. I believe it's specifically for low frequency only. Regular 2 or 3 way 6X9s may not sound good because it's trying to drive bass only, not highs or mids. That's my understanding anyway. I ended up putting a factory set back in with RF sub and amp to get the bass I wanted.

hey osain, i just called max over at five star ford, and he says that the rear speakers are 41.00 each, does this sound about right ? i figuered they'd be a little more expensive.

That's it. It's not a very high tech speaker. Just a woofer. I have done a lot of stereo work in my life, but I had to leave this up to the pros. Even though you can see the speaker from the bottom, you have to install it from the top. I tried to get everything apart without breaking anything. It didn't work out and I ended up paying someone to install them. Depending on your experience level, you may want to do the same. Good luck!

Looking for something better then stock.

2 6X9, they have 2 ohm voice coils.

Just to add something here....are you talking about the rear door speakers or the "sub-woofers" in the package tray (area right next to back window)?

I've noticed all the responses are steering towards the "sub-woofers".

I just spoke to Max he said that the subs are a different ball game, b/c they come in a package in which includes the subs and amp. For 312.14. Thats a lot of money! Do I really need the amp also? or should i just get the subs from CD? Now the CD subs are they direct bolt ons?

If you already have subs, then you should already have the amp mounted there. I wouldn't see any need to change that as long as your new subs are rated correctly...ie 2 ohms, 4ohms, etc. I don't know how the stock subs are rated.

ok guys i went ahead and ordered the subs, i hope these CDT's are good. Ill keep you guys posted.

Mine had the same problem, except the speakers werent blown. All I did was run a HP Filter inbetween the stock amp + rear speakers, it was trying to send incorrect frequencies to the speakers causing them to pop, easy fix, had the filters laying around.

question, witht the new cdt speakers that i ordered do they bolt up to the amp, how are they going to sound? or does the amp need to be changed.
