For financial reasons I have to replace my air ride with coils but while Im doing that Id like to change all the rattly bushings under the car. Is there a kit or do you have to peice it together? What sources do you all recommend? Thanks in advance. Or does any one have front struts for sale cheap??

Check ebay, craig's list, junkyard, and if you want new check with supercoupe performance.com or look at one of the sites on the left.

As far as the front suspension is concerned I would go with all Moog or TRW parts....

For the rear supercoupe sells some good stuff.... but if you are strapped for cash it might be out of the budget.

If your talking about the front I have found there is some good quality parts on ebay, I think you can get upper control arms and lower parts for just a tad over 180.00

Those eBay control arms are JUNK.

To save money on the front end rebuild when going with coils order everything for a 96 Thunderbird.

Also, spend some time shopping around. I ended up buying parts from 3 different stores. Saved myself a lot of money, and all the parts are TRW or Moog. :D

Good choice!

Right after rebuilding the suspension is the best feeling... its like driving a brand new car again!

For the strut rod bushings (which are the major culprit with front end rattles), go OEM. Even the Moog's suck for those parts.

You got two uppers for the $175, right?

yep two uppers for 175... moog, any idea how supercoupe performance strut rod bushing kit is?

Not a bad deal!

I've bought a front and rear bushing kit (poly) for my 92 Cougar from Bill, in his kit were OEM bushings for the strut rods, apparently only Ford has managed to get those bushings right.

Not to take any business away from Bill, but you may as well just call your local Ford rapis... er parts counter guy and be done with it. I think I paid about $30 Cdn for a kit.

Amen! After replacing mine and 3000mi latter the Moog stuff was ripped.
Now I need to put the OEM Lincoln stuff in. It wasn't cheap for the parts.

This was just the forward bushings. Aprox $180. OUCH!

Yea, Moog strut rod bushings are junk. Took less than 6 months on my car for them to become worse than 10 year old OEM stuff...

$180 for the front sets  ???

That's horrible, they're just freaking rubber?

Anyways - I should have clarified that the rod bushings I replaced were the ones at the control arm, NOT the ones at the K member.

And yes - a main cause in front end rattles. Both the Mark and Cougar had/have rattling going on, once the original bushings were replaced (about 150k miles on them) the noises were gone.

The problem people are having with the Moog's is that they are not installing them correct. You must be sure of the ferrell length, it usually needs to be trimmed up to 1/4" on length. The second thing is that they are not supposed to be over torqued. These components have a higher durometer rubber compound that the stock ones due and can split if overtightened, and definitely will make all kinds of noise if the ferrels are too long. Just for clarity I am referring to the Blue colored bushings in the "Problem Solver Series".

Could be right, I haven't tried the Moog bushings - otherwise I've never heard anything bad about Moog, and they're my preferred aftermarket parts.

But you should not have to modify a part like that just to make it work, unless there are other modifications to the suspension that interfere. Stuff like that should work right out of the box. And over torqued? I've only ever tightened that big nut up to where it was when I took it off (with a bit of lok-tite to make sure it doesn't back off).

For all the trouble with them though, I'd have a hard time not buying OEM vs Moog for the sake of a few bucks difference either way.

BTW, your car looks incredible, even in that small picture :).
