You know, I don’t know what it is…..just got an 06 LS not more then a month ago and already have a door ding and an attempted theft. I park the car strategically away from every one and yet somebody apparently parked next to me and hit my car. This a couple of weeks ago. It didn’t leave a dent but they took paint. Worse then this, some sorry sack tried to steal it yesterday and damaged the seal and paint in the area of where the door and roof meet. One can see where they tried to slide a thin bar between the door and roof seal in an attempt to somehow get to the door lock button. Damn that makes me mad!

Anyway, I need to touch up the door ding and the paint around the door area where they tried to steal it. I know I can get the touch up paint (Black) from Ford, but I’ve seen touch ups like this come out looking like crap. Perhaps someone can comment on how to effectively hide the paint damage?

Much appreciated,

John

If you really want it to be invisible, take it to a pro. It'll probably cost you a pretty penny, but it'll have the best chance of obtaining that outcome.

If you want to do it yourself, you can get a guaranteed color match from http://www.paintscratch.com/ .

If the scratches are in the clearcoat, you might be able to get by with one of the polymer scratch repair products. I've had good luck with Meguiar's ScratchX; maybe someone else can recomend something else.

If it went to primer or bare metal, I would recommend having a pro do it unless you're experienced at body work, because you'll have to prep it properly to prevent corrosion under the paint.
