Yesterday, I went and bought 2 pairs of Alpine speakers for my 01 V8 with the Alpine system. Best Buy only had 1 pair of each speaker, so I couldn't get both to be the same. I have a pair of Alpine SPS-57C2 (250W) and a pair of Alpine SPS-13C2 (175 W). Which of these would you put in the front doors and which would you put in the rear doors. I know it's a matter of preference, but what sounds better in the LS? Also, what's the best way to take off the interior panel of the doors off?

Put the better speakers in the front....who cares about the passengers in the back, you wanna hear what you paid for

Well if it were me, i would prefer them in the front...if your goin down the highway at 120km/h with the windows and sunroof open the sound will get more washed away in the back

those speakers are good but i bet you got ripped off at best buy. i got my x types for real cheap. i can get the s types for about 70 bucks. not sayin' they're not good but best buy hikes up the price so much that you could usually get the next stage up for about the same price. i would put the louder ones in the front panel.

I didn't bother to look up the specs on the speakers. But if one set is 3 way and the other is 2 way, put the 3 ways up front. that way you'll pick up the higher notes better. they'll get lost in the back of the car.

You should definately put the 5x7 in the front. But let me ask you this. Why didn't you get 6.5" speakers instead? They fit just fine with an adaptor plate. I have the SPR-17C (6.5") in all 4 doors (driven by a MRP-F450) and I love them!

What will you be pushing them with? Do you plan on replacing the head unit or just using it to power the new speakers? It might push them to your satisfaction since the sensitivity is 92 dB / W(1m)... but they will always sound better with an aftermarket amp. I'm not sure what the specs are on the stock headunit but I am sure it won't push 35watts rms and no where near 50watts rms (the ratings of your 5.25" and 5x7 speakers respectively).

Bottom line... I would recommend returning the speakers and getting 6.5" (SPS-17C are great) all around. If that is not an option use the 5x7 in the front.

Welcome to the club!
