Brake replacement

Hey all. About how many miles did you have on your LS's prior to replacing the brakes? Do the front ones go before the rear like most cars or should they be done at the same time due to the rear bias and the near perfect weight distribution?

I have noticed a rather heavy build-up of break dust on the front wheels but no indication of dragging pads. Still stops well so I dont think I have a problem, it is just a PITA to keep them clean. Are ceramic pads the best way to avoid this problem?

This is just a general question. I know this will depend a lot on driving habits. I am just wanting some general numbers. 30k? 50k? 80k? more?

Totally depends on where and how you drive. I used to get over 75K out of my company car brakes. But they were all highway miles...so you never used the brakes much. My Cobra only has 14K on it and I'll bet it's close. It's only been on one trip in it's life. Everything is around town. I also used to live on a mountain...my cars would need brakes more often than others because I had to come down that mountain at least once a day. So there isn't any tried and true formula you can use.

My 2004 LS V8 that I bought used needs brakes right now, on the front. I have a little over 30,000 on the car. This is fairly low mileage in my expereince. Could be my cars early life(less than 14K miles) being a rental in Hawaii.

Most disc brake cars I have owned used the fronts in about 50K miles and the rears usually went about 50% longer.

The rears looked to have a good 10-20K more left on them.

Soon as my new pads show up I am changing them.
