ok i was doing rear brakes on the LS when a buddy came by and offered to "help".. welllll... he apparently didnt tighten one of the piston assembly bolts and it worked its way out when i was leaving my neighborhood allowing one of the pads to come OUT. drove it straight home and parked it. well im working on it now and have new pads and all of it torn back apart again and the piston will not recede enough to be even close to fitting the pads and rotor. its gotta be open atleast another 5/8" and it is not closing anymore. it just turns and turns but does not go back in (i actually made a mark to watch it to make sure it wasnt just going in slow). anyone got any advice? could the piston assembly been damaged when the pad came out? maybe it came out too far? i was thinking about trying to put some pressure on it with a big C-clamp then try the lame brake tool again but i didnt want to damage anything further. gotta love when simple jobs turn into nightmares
