brake mystery

My '96 Mark VIII now has 186K miles on it and the brake warning light is flashing on for a couple seconds after I release the brake pedal. This only happens in the morning though, regardless of how hard I brake.

The fluid is full up and I don't see any sign of leaks around the master cylinder. Maybe it has an internal leak?

Any ideas?

Kick the parking brake pedal up with your foot and I bet $10 the light stays off...

I don't know about the level sensor, if that were the case I'd expect it to do it all day, not just in the mornings.

I'll check the parking brake, can't remember the last time I used it.
