I am getting the check advancetrac light illuminated with dtc 1286 only. scanner says booster mechanical failure. Abs works so does traction control. does this mean that the module has to be reprogramed or do i have to replace the module. I also have to flush my brake fluid out, I noticed that it is black so moisture has gotten into the system. Does anyone think that if I flush out the system and bleed the brakes out that this may take care of the problem. I have the car going in to have an alignment and inspection wed.

Thank you in advance.

From what I have seen and heard...

This is sometimes fixed by recalibrating the ABS module (done with module on car.)

Sometimes fixed by replacing the master cylinder, the vacuum booster, or both.

I've also heard of it fixed by replacing the ABS module, but I suspect that recalibrating the existing one would have worked.
