Block Heater?

Anyone else use their block heater? I plugged mine in the other night because it is getting very cold here, but in the morning it didn't really feel any different. Still cold as hell on startup.

how often do you use it? has it been used yet this winter?
another quick question if you don't mind me asking tho, what years come with the block heater...it could have come in handy the past 2 mornings....

I have plugged it in the past few nights. If you look in your trunk where the spare is, there should be an electric cord in there (if someone hasn't removed it). Then it just plugs in in the lower grille. There is a little flap there. I am not convinced mine is working, but it is to dam cold to jack it up and check it. Next time I get the oil changed I am going to see if they can test it. Either that or I will data log the coolant temp before and after. It came from the factory installed on my 2003.

Does the LS when equipped with the "block heater" actually come with a block heater (which heats the coolant and is typically in a freeze plug location), or an oil heater (that typically is in the pan) so that the oil does not gel and its viscosity remains low?
