Block/Heads Production Date Code Location?

Hey All,

I bought my 2000 LS after the original engine blew and was swapped out for a 2001 V-8. I've seen on here that around mid-2001 the updated timing tensioners were factory installed.

Where do I look for block/head casting numbers to determine my V-8's production date?

I believe at the bottom of the block on the driver's side. The dealer should be able to reference the numbers and get you a date. I had to call the engine shop to get the numbers for an oil pump inquiry I had. The numbers are there.....even recall seeing them once the long block arrived on a pallet.
