I've got one of the knuckles out today and bearing was shot and have a new one in, ready to pull the second knuckle out in the morning....but I'm going to be replacing the rear shocks too.

since I have the lower control arm hanging there, can't I just unbolt everything and let it just fall out? Or do I still need to place the jack under it and unbolt the top and slowly drop it.

I hate messing with springs...it's a simple as that...I can take them out as a whole unit and take it to someone with a strut press.

NOTICE: I am tired and when I'm tired I over think everything.

Wellllll..... As the LS uses a coil-over-shock you remove the shock and spring as an assembly.

The spring is retained by the shock, so no need to mess with a jack like a traditional a-arm setup. When removing the shock, undo the four nuts around the top - NOT the center nut! The center one retains the spring.

Nah....I ripped out all of them and those suckers just fell out for me....both new shocks in, 1 knuckle back on ready for new brake pads....should have it all done in the morning ready for alignment soon.

I replaced wheel bearings....it is chewing the inside of the rear tires pretty bad, so the rear needs an alignment.....can't wait for them to tell me how bad the front is too.

I've been down that road my friend. Did you replace them yourself? If so, you should feel great about the insane amounts of money you've saved. If not, it's something that will still save you money as it's the spark that ignites the fire of many other problems.

Do you also have a wheel bearing problem in your front tires?

I did everything but the pressing...I don't have a press at home.

I'm not stranger to wrenching, my father is a diesel mechanic since he was 18...he should retire this year....lol.

I don't even want to look up front yet..haha...I heard the rear bearings and shocks a few weeks back and stopped driving it right away.

The fronts are much easier. If you're doing the brakes you're halfway there. The front hub (bearing) assembly is held in by 4 bolts. Pretty easy off and easy on!

So you just have to replace the wheel hub assembly? I wasn't sure if the bearing was a complete part of the hub or not.

Yeah the fronts are easy....but the money right now isn't.

The wifes car just um kinda blew up or something like that this morning...can't wait to get off work.
