so i just purchased a 2000 ls, and i'm looking to scrap the factory system. looking to put in a single din head unit. love to hear some opinions on which brand dash kit looks the best. i see the scosche ln1328b and the metra 99-5000 as options. i believe mine comes as standard black matte finish. sorry if this was covered before, i tried searching but couldn't come up with anything. thanks in advance.

full system, couple amps, couple 12's or 15's, components up front. i'd like to know what's a good kit that has a clean fit, and matching finish to the rest of the dash panels. also, anyone know what's the output rating of the alternator?

personally, I like the metra kit, nice and sturdy how it holds everything together, i usually epoxy the iso brackets and the kits trim ring together, then screw in the aftermarket radio in for a good secure fit. this may not work with some units with moving faces.

so that means you used the trim ring that came with the kit, not the head unit, right? my hu is likely to be the pioneer p880prs, which does have a tilting faceplate. hope it fits. thanks for the opinion. anyone else with first hand experience?

you can put it all together and test out the motion before any glueing, then if it works clean, get the epoxy out and go to town, it it doesnt fit, you can file it till it does, or just use the trim ring that come with the radio.

for me and a lot of car, the radios trim rings on certian brands just look terrible, and the rings with the dash kits usually make it look more OEM

it may, just need to be tested, with the radios trim ring, there will be no problems.

I'm happy with the Metra on my double din..

I also installed a full system, with components front and rear, and a fiberglass sub box. I found the best location for the tweets to be in the front pillars. Was not a fun install, but was worth it in the end.
