Last week I saw a Pearl White 1998 collectors edition low number like 200 something on craigslist for sale..it was in MA..Guy wanted $2,000 but listing said if you come with $1,700 cash its yours..Did anyone from here grab that cause its gone now..I emailed the guy same day he listed it and he never replied..ugh I was so mad...Listing stated in 98 original sticker was $44,000 something..He stated he purchased it in FL in 02 with 42k on it for $21,000...then 3 years later in 05 the air ride went on it..He states it sat in his garage for the next 5 years then he finally replaced all the air ride suspension with a coil over..said he also replaced all 4 tires $600..replaced all break pads, rotors,,battery and other mis items..stated he dumped $3,000 in it last year then found out after that the guy who towed it years prior when the air suspension went bad hooked the tow chain up to the rack and bent it..So he said he gave up and let it sit another year and now wants it gone..States it needed a new rack,,a charcoal canister and the hood latch was sticking and needed to be replaced..But damn you look at the storey of the car..He drove it for 3 years and the owner before him drove it for 4...7 years of driving and 6 years of sitting...in a heated garage he stated..and it had a little over $3,000 of new parts..and it was from FL and never seen one winter he said..I think it was the best deal ive ever seen on a mark viii and it was even a collectors edition..ugh I cant get it out of my head..I would have gave him $2,700 screw the $1,700...Anyhow just wondering if anyone from here was lucky enough to grab it cause I sure missed the boat! Damn car was 52 miles according to map quest away from me...ughhhhhhhh...And not to mention looking at the pictures..The car looked MINT!!

Just kidding. sounded like a good deal, maybe it wasnt as nice as you think

IF he paid $21k for that car in 02, then I hope he used vaseline!! There is really nothing special about the collectors edition. Different seat skins and a partial wood steering wheel and shifter handle. Oh, and it says collector's edition on the front door trim. Big Deal!! Don't beat yourself up.
One other note, even tho the collectors edition tags had serial numbers, they are completely useless. The tags were not installed at the factory in number order. They werent installed until all of the cars were made. That #200 could have been the first or last unit built.
