This has been happening since I got the car. If I give it a hard shot of gas, when I let off the pedel it sounds like the belt is squealing for a split second.

I've replaced the A/C compressor (leaking), alternator (died), idler pulley and tensioner pulley and arm, and the belt, all with Ford stuff and it still does it. The power steering pump feels like it is fine when turned and same with the water pump.

I'm stumped on this one! I hate annoying squeaks and rattles :D
Suggestions would be great :)
Thanks,
J.

Sounds like one of your accessories slows down instantly when you let off the gas, and everything else's rotating mass keeps the belt spinning. I had this prob until I purchased a gatorback as mentioned.

No Autozone up here. I'll check out Napa and see if they have them. I have a brand new Ford belt on it, not sure who makes them though...

Stopped by Napa and they only had Gates. I went to a small independent store and they had them. I can see why the Gatorbacks grip better, they have more of a tooth pattern than just grooves like the oem's.
I cleaned off the front cover with degreaser and brake clean with the old belt off. I scrubbed the pulleys and eveything I could get a brush on. Dried it off good with an air hose and put the new belt on. No more squeal it looks like! It does let out a noise once in a while still, but I think thats becasue there was oil on the ac clutch. I may take the belt off again and clean it one more time to see...
I didn't find any leaks from the front cover or that area, so I think it may have been covered with undercoating.
Thanks for the help all :)
J.
