Ball joints

Hello all! I am trying to replace the lower ball joint on the passenger side of my 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. I have the old ball joint out. When I try to press the ball joint in with a ball joint press I rented from autozone, the ball joint goes in at an angle no matter what I do. Any suggestions?

are you using the big c clamp style?
i had that problem.
when it would get sideways, i would flip the c clamp around to other side and that would usually straighten it out. i think the c clamp was bent..

If all else fails, just get the whole lower control arm. Just make sure its a TRW or MOOG brand. They are about $60-ish and you end up with a whole new arm with ball joint and bushings! And install is A LOT quicker!
