i have the factory nav unit and im wanting to upgrade to the Z3. are these compatible with the THX speakers??? will the sound still be as good and has anyone used the z3 before???
2004 LSE

I can tell you from my experience with Pioneer head units that they make your sound come alive. I have the Avic F90BT but it's not hooked up fully yet because I waiting on some other parts to do the install. Trust me you won't go wrong with a Pioneer head unit.

im not sure of the accesories?/ bluetooth adapter andxm antennas and the like. what comes with the head unit??
andis 1300 a good deal

Let me ask you why is it you want the Z3? Just curious so I can help you make some comparisons.

it seems to be the top of the line and i like the rear view option. it also has the option to split screen while driving between rear view and nav. i figure that can help with the dreaded blind spot and is a real cool factor. also has a bigger screen than the f90

Here's my input. All of the extras that you would like to add to the Z3 comes with the new Avic F series. Bluetooth built in, ipod controls built in and the cable included, microphone included, SD slot on the front, and you canalso switch and see what's behind you while you are driving. Another cool thing is that you can customize the color scheme of the unit to match lighting of you instrument panel of your car. Yea the screen may be a little smaller but you make up for it with all of the features that come standard on the F90 which I listed above where as you will have to buy extra equipment for the Z3. More stuff to hook not to mention more cash. Check out the attached link and tell me what you think.

i read the specs and it doesnt come with xm /siriius adapter???? have you purchased one??

None of them do, you have to buy that extra with most navi units. Actually that's what i'm waiting on before I install my unit.

so either way i will have to buy the xm adapter , so why not just go with the Z3?? i dont know its all real confusing. i just really like the full screen of the Z3. i guess ill mull it over for a bit, thanks for your help, really appreciated

the only beef i have with the Z3 is that it has a motorized faceplate, they finally fix that on the D and F series. I have seen way to many D2's and Z2's get pulled and sent back to pioneer to get fixed. the motor seems to hold up fine but the ribbon cable goes bad and it ALWAYS seems to go bad about a couple of months AFTER the 1 year warrenty is up, feature wise the Z3 is pretty top notch and the boot up time is a lot better than the f series.

The factory nav units are made by Pioneer.

Have you ever listened to XM? The last time I listened to it, it was 12.95 a month and had commercials on the music stations..

i prefer sirius but what the hell is hd radio

some radio stations brodcast in HD, HD makes AM stations sound almost as good as FM, FM stations sound like "near CD quality" or instead of better sound quality you can broadcast sub channels (two or more stations at the same freq)

I agree with you about the motorized screens. I never did like any headunit with a motorized face. To many moving parts spells trouble eventually. I had an Kenwood motorized face years ago and installed the face wouldn't open up. Took it back the next day.

so in everyones opinion i should get the f90?

I would. I'm actually tearing my car up right now to install mines AGAIN. I'm redoing my speaker and rca cables in the process too. Trust me you won't go wrong with the F90. At least you will have bluetooth, Ipod controls and cable and microphone right out the box and built in the unit. The only additional piece I see adding to it is you want sirrus, xm or hd radio. So at least you want have to find a place for a lot of modules unless you want all xm and hd radio.

ive been looking at the F90 and there seems to be 2 different kinds. the regular one and the premier version, what is the difference of these

The F90 is the Premier model and comes with a two year warranty from Pioneer. It has 4 volts pre outputs and it comes with the Ipod cable. The F900 comes with 2 volts pre outputs and does not come withe the Ipod cable. Comes with an one year warranty from Pioneer. That's the only differences between the two.

Some other information that will help you. If you are thinking of doing the steering wheel controls hold off on buying the module from PAC. They are having issues with it not fully working with the new F series and are coming out with a new module at the end of the year. Also make sure you buy a unit that has the latest firmware 2.0 on it. If you search the threads I posted a few pics after my install.

hey sorry for being a lil off topic but i just got a brand new z3 in the box and im not sure im gonna put it in so i want to know if anyone is intrested in buying it. or maybe trade for some rims? 20s preferably

I was at Circiut City and they had the F90 in stock for 999.00.
Sonic's 699.00 price is way better but you can go see it yourself and fiddle around with it at CC.
Some of the sales people may even be knowledgeble about it.
Oh and adjustable blindspot mirrors, 3.00 for 2 at Advance Auto are a great solution for the "dreaded" blindspot problem.
I don't know why more people don't use them.
They're great.
