Automatic starter vs. Key

Odd issue here. I start my car in the morning with my automatic start(installed prior to my purchase). after it shuts off and I to start it with the key, it wont crank. All the lights and everything comes on, but the key wont start it. I have to sit in my car and start it remotely from the keychain. Any thoughts on this? Not a big issue, but an annoying one none the less.

It's an anti-theft issue, did the installer happen to wire up the starter kill feature on the remote starter. I guess I should ask first, is the remote starter OEM or aftermarket?

weird my viper never did that but then again i dont think i really run my car for 10 mins for it to shut off. Did u try stepping on the brake or hutting the unlock button on the pad and then cranking it?

It is aftermarket. It's a Viper. I have tried the brake but not the unlock... I'll try that after work. I guess what bothers me is that it is inconsistent.

That seems odd. I have an Viper and I start my car like that all the time before I go somewhere. Sometimes the car cuts off before I leave the house because it set at 15 minutes and I get in and start it with the key no problem. One thing I can share is this because it happened to me. If you remotely start your car and you unlock it and get in but realize you had to get back out or you step out the car for a reason, turn the ignition to on and press the brake. I did this one time while talking to a friend but didn't turn it to the on position and hit the brakes and when I closed the door, it locked with the car running. I was like WTF. And we were at a 7-11. Cost me eighty something dollars for a locksmith to spend less then an minute to unlock my door but I learned something new about the alarm and car that night too.

interesting... thanks for the heads up. Im notorious for locking keys in cars.
