I use my auto start this morning and when i got in and turned on my running lights and fog lamps, everything started flashing (lights in side and out, including dashboard) but if I went all the way to headlamps it stopped. after i drove for about 10 seconds i went back to runners and fogs, and it stopped. Is this normal ?

Also, one of my keys wont start the car, it lets me use the auto start and use the key after that to drive, but why wont it fire the ignition? almost like its a valet key, but not exactly. key looks normal to me.

ahh, any suggestions ?

I can't be of much help here, but I can tell you my story. 2 years ago I got remote start installed in my F150. It worked fine for a week or so. Then, after that, the truck would only be good with the remote start once per day. For example, if I used remote start before work, I wouldn't be able to use it before I left work. The truck would just crank and crank and never fire. I called the install shop and they had to get some sort of ignition override pack to add to the system to work out that bug. he told me that Fords were funny that way. 75% of them worked fine right out of the gate. But then there was the other 25% that I fell into that needed the adaptor or whatever he plugged in. So I'd call your install shop (if you had it professionally done) and see if they can look into it for you. It should be free, too. Even if you did it yourself, for a fee, they'd probably look into it, too. Have you tried the manufacturers help line?

shlt. all that typing and you figured it out already....;)

Ok... Heres the thing. I just bought this car the day before Thanksgiving and the guy only had it on his lot for 5 hours.. so he was no help. I have been doing things (mostly electronics) through trial and error.

Well, Im not sure if everyone's is the same as mine. But, If my key goes in with the silver emblem on the lower side of the ignition, it goes into AUX mode, and it wont start, but it will let me autostart, then insert it like that and drive away.

It must have been a coincidence that I was inserting one key one way, and the other key another way. Weird. Needless to say, I feel like a tard, but I had no idea taht the orientation of the key way going to make a difference in starting or not. I mean, it doesnt seem to have a chip in it like my old car did, so i didnt even think about it.

So there you have it, don't be stupid like me. :D

Oh, and if someone with the ability to change the thread name, they may want to because it turns out that it had nothing to do with the autostart ;)

It doesn't. The key should start the car no matter which way its inserted. And it does have a chip that's build into the plastic part of the key. It's called a PATS chip, or Passive Anti-Theft System. And it'll disable the starter if it doesn't detect the right key even if it does turn the lock cylinder.

I know, its crazy, but im telling you, if the key is inserted one way it wont fire the ignition, only AUX. but works the other way, I have no idea.
