It's a 94 and about two months ago the auto lamp started acting up as when it turns on the dash lights won't come on.I have been turning the lights on manually but yesterday the left headlight turned off and the bulb is fine  Could it be the headlight switch and the auto lamp going bad? and the brights work fine.any ideas Thanks

did you scroll through the LED message display screen to see if it indicates ext lamps ok?
---
troubleshoot/swap with a known good bulb
---I keep my optical sensor/light control OFF...too many overpasses in my drive

The message display came on saying check exterior lamps so I replaced both bulbs and the left side is still dead.I also went to dealer and they said there is no recall for mine, guess it was the 93 and early 94's

That's what they said, but have you put your VIN into Ford's website and checked for yourself? Being the dealer doesn't magically make them right.

what recall?
the headlight switch to the left of the steering wheel burns up sometimes. check it.

how can he check it? arc or hard wire the two correct wires? is putting a voltmeter on the bulb plug in an option

by looking at it for starters. many times the heat build up from the old wiring will physically deform the plastic housing and plug. i believe a few have caught on fire. it would be worth your time to check it.

Well I went to pick n pull and there's a 94,96 and two 98 LSC's. The 94 had a melted plug and the switch is a F3 number same as mine.I grabbed the switch and auto lamp from the 96 plus the head light plug with about 10" of it's harness as it looked perfect. The 96 has heaver gauge wiring then mine but my plug is deformed just a little so I probably wont splice the 96 into it.I tried the 96 switch(has a F4 part number)and the left head light still wont come on.What else could be the problem?.

And of course the 96's climate control was gone but I did grab the side molding from one of the LSC's.The other one's was already gone. And why do douche bags keep breaking the grills for the dumb emblem

I assume there's one relay for the low beams right?. Is there two wires coming from relay or does it split off somewhere? Either way it probably lost connection in between the relay and the bulb, sounds like fun.

Yeah I already swapped the switch out and the plug wasn't melted like the one at the junkyard. So if there's one relay for both lights then it's in the wiring somewhere. Luckily the harness is short from the head light to the power box.

Unless the switch I got is bad too could it be the lamp out module or is there another module for the lights.

You from lake geneva wisconsin? If so which jy did you go to? Damn near every first gen I come across has the busted grille from some idiot taking the emblem also.

Yup I'm from lake geneva wi and I go to pick n pull in Wadsworth. One of the 98's has front end damage but the other three are broke where the emblem was.

For whatever reason I was checking the wrong bulb DUH:rolleyes: But yeah the correct bulb exploded and it was raining that day so maybe water got in there. But replacing the auto lamp module did fix the dash lights.
