Hey guys........got a quickie for ya'll. I came across some money and was thinking of buying some audio equipment. I was wondering if I picked up some 6x9's and mounted them in my rear decklid and powered them off of a 200W amp, if it would sound OK (as long as the 6X9's could handle the power)? I have a 200W amp now powering a 10" sub, but wondered if it would have a better quality sound doing it with some high-end 6X9's. What do you all think? I don't need the thump as much as I would like the richer sound, follow me? Thanks a lot!

Responding to my own post...........I think from what I have read on the forum, it will work out if I use my 200W amp to power a couple of 6X9's in my decklid (i don't have the alpine system). Any idea what type of 6X9's I should buy (3 way, 4 way, ?) Thanks a lot and next time i'll spend a little more time reading through the past threads :Bang

i would go with a good set of 3 way speakers.. How many channels is your amp?
If you want great sound, get another amp, and those 6x9 3ways. Now that'll sound good!

I finally got everything installed.........not worth taking pics though because its nothing special (just a couple of amps and a sub).
I picked up another 200W amp (both amps are 2 channel) and bridged it to the other 200W amp and now one amp is powering the sub and the other is powering the 6x9's. I ended up getting some Sony 4-way speakers to throw in the decklid. I adjusted the 6x9's to play more mid to high range than low but they still kick without being distorted. The 10" is running low end bass of course. The car sounds a lot richer and fuller in sound with the new speakers in the decklid.........Im happy with it.

Just to give you an idea of what i have in my car (please don't make fun of me because i don't have excess money to spend on the super-nice audio equipment..........lol). It works for now at least :Beer

(2) VR3 200W amps
(2) Pioneer 6x8 3-ways - rear doors
(2) Pioneer 5.25 3-ways - front doors
(2) Sony 6x9 4-ways - rear decklid
(1) Lightning Audio sub - trunk
