This is a question for those with alot of knowledge regarding the LS. Are the little louvers shown above/right side on the underside functional ? There are two holes in the fender lining behind them, is this "venting" the wheels ?

i always thought it was there to prevent from road debris collecting or standing water...

This allows air to enter for the stock air filter box. Your air filter box pulls from inside this fenderwell. Thats why the louvers are there.
The pictures I've seen of the '02 LS's airbox show it drawing from behind the headlight, not from the fenderwell. The slots are certainly functional, but whether they're for draining, airflow, or simply weight savings, I don't know...
