Alright, I was really excited to order this intake for my 2004 V8 LS and it arrived yesterday.

www.lskoncepts.com/store/lincoln-ls-kn-57-series-aircharger-intake-kit-p-106.php

My delima is, I was bragging to my son-in-law (who is the car salesman that sold me the LS) about installing the intake (because I thought he might want to help). He said adding on performance parts like this will void the extended warranty on the engine.

After thinking it over I'd rather have the warranty coverage for a couple more years than the extra horse power. So the intake is up for sale. I paid $269.99 for it 2 weeks ago and will let it go for $225.00 and I will cover the shipping cost.

He's wrong. I've had an intake on my '06 and still had warranty work (on the engine) done. What it will do is void the warranty on the intake components you replace; i.e the filter, air box, etc.

Yup, what the guy above me said. I've had my car in twice for coils, both times with an aftermarket intake kit on it. They noted that it was not stock and continued to fix the car with no problems.

The only time they may bitch is if for some eason the MAF went bad and they could try to blame it on the oil the FIlter has. Other than that if they are reasonable that should not matter. If you are doughtful, save the original one and install it on the car before it goes into the dealer.

Or show them the part in the warranty manual that states you are allowed to alter your vehicle since it is your vehicle how ever you want with what ever parts you wish and the only way they can deny anything to be picked up by warranty is if they can prove the part added is the cause of the failure.

I forget what it is called but there is actually a act protecting consumers from this for the simple fact that you do own both warranty and the vehicle and it is against the laws from coast to coast to void your warranty ( difference between rejecting a claim )if the burden of proof can not be presented.

EDIT: Its the Magnuson-Moss.

thanks for the comments

OK, thanks for all the positive support. I should have clarified that the car was purchased used from Carmax so the warranty is through them. I will put the sale on hold for now and verify. I appreciate the comments because I really want to finish up the few details (such as performance intakes) that Ford left off.

OR just make sure you keep your stock box. The car breaks down put the old system back on. It can't take longer then 20 mintues to do so and they will never know.

what did I decide to do?

OK I was very close to selling the intake but after reading all the responses and a few days of thinking it over I decided to install the intake then decide. The decision - it's staying. It is better than I expected and well worth the cost. I am also glad to get rid of all that plastic nonsense stuff. Here's a pictures of the install.

Have you found yourself putting your foot in to it just to hear the LINCOLN GROWL :L and bring on the LS GRIN.

Now you have an audio for both driving fuel efficient or for the power growl. :)

Don't worry about voiding you warranty, just had mine in the dealership for oil change and the service tech and service adviser wanted to know how it sounded. The service adviser said he did the same to his new PU.

i am looking at getting that very same set-up on my 03, what are some decent websites that will include the complete package like that exact same one?

here is where I got mine, not a bad price right now. http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/linc...-kit-p-106.php

Yes, I have tested it and the Lincoln Growl is great. It seems to get better sound in automatic than when using SST. It's more like a European sport car sound than the typical Ford-Mustang sound. I definitely noticed a little extra power when trying a couple burn-outs. I will be doing a road trip this week to really test it out.

Oh yea, I let my son-in-law (the one that warned me about the warranty). He couldn't get over the change. He talked to the service manager who said they would overlook the ad-on if I ever had to bring the machine in for service.

Thanks everyone for talking me into it.
