Has anyone had the thought of putting tail light sequencer's on the back of a mark? Saw some on a new mustang and was inspired to maybe try it,but will do some resurch first.:D

I was just thinking about doin this to mine actually. I doubt i actually will, but cool idea.

I thought about it but never got around to trying to make it work.

Eventually we might all have to try something like this due to the fact that our cars are old and the these kind of parts are becoming more expensive and hard to find.

I've been recently talking with a guy that sells kits for the Mustangs (Gary at www.meter4it.com) who has a really cool kit that will 'chase' the lights or sequence them (I think the chase lights are the best!) I was going to make the single element bulbs in the bar across the trunk dual filament, but was unable to find a suitable incandescent bulb that would work without high risk of melting the housings.
I then thought about using led's, which would work, but imho with the 'chase' lights it doesn't look good if the bulbs don't 'fade' into one another like an incandescent setup would, and led's are pricey and seem unreliable at this time.
I guess you could leave the exiting bulbs as is and use them in the setup, but it would look cheesy as just the outer tails would be dual element, and they would always be lit on the running light element at night. It would look proper and much much better with all the lights on each side being both marker/turn lights and part of the sequence/chase imho...
Without heavily modifying the trunk lights it would be hard to get the focal points good too with different bulbs so they all look even and the same brightness, as the sockets are very deep and narrow (they only use a little 168 bulb.)
So it can be done, but it depends on how you want it to turn out in the end. For the way I wanted it personally it was going to cost way to much and I'd be stuck using led's which I won't do (about $400+ with all four lights dual element on each side and converted to leds, with a couple controllers!)...
With just using three lights on each side it would be easier as the outers are already dual element, and if you didn't convert the others any kit would do or use Gary's if you want the 'chase' feature, but as I mentioned it would not look good or right without using incandescnt lights imho (although I may try a variation in the future just to see how it does look ;) lol...)
