I'm getting ready to do the gear swap, driveshaft, fuel pump, and just ordered some braces today from scp (LECB & rear irs torsional load brace) and im really stuck on what to do with the fuel pump

Every parts store i called are clueless.

From searching i've figured out on my gen 2 its either the FOCUS pump or the AVIATOR pump for most direct fit and they both flow better then the 255 walboro's and cobra pumps....but does anyone know by how much???

Also, where in the *!@# is the best place to order them from? I want something that will last, i prefer motorcraft but they want like 345 bucks for the focus pump from the dealer...and everyone on the board says they are like 100 bucks?

Thanks guys

I just did my fuel pump on my 97 this past weekend. I just went to Schucks.com and looked up the fuel pump for the 2003 Ford Focus SVT. I ordered up only the fuel pump, not the entire assembly.

I ended up here:

I ordered the 2nd pump, the one that was 131 dollars. I wanted the pump now, I didn't want to wait a week so I paid a premium for it to be able to get it locally.

The pump itself is about 1/4 - 1/2 inch shorter than the factory pump.

The new strainers fit perfectly in place of the old ones.

When I put the rubber retainers on the new pump, the main issue turned out to be that the new pump wasn't tall enough to fit tightly in place of the old one. So all I did was to use the rubber base from the old pump and placed it underneath the new pump. Then when I put the new pump in place of the old one, it fit quite snug and proper. I just used the old rubber retainer as a spacer underneath the new pump which I had attached the rubber retainers.

The wiring was easy. It came with a short harness. I just cut off the Focus end of the wiring (the white part) and put 2 new spades on the end of the wires. The space connectors slid right into place on the factory pump harness.

I also bent up the float just a hair from horizontal to compensate for the fact that the new pump pickup sits up about 1/4-1/2 inch higher than the factory pump.

Put it all together and the car is running great now.

I do not know the difference in fuel flow from the factory pump either and I was wondering the same thing.

Also the new pump is a real Walbro.
