i'm looking for another 3.9 for my LS. mine is a 1st gen. obviously the lower the miles the better. i'd like to put a rebuilt one in but the lowest price i've found is on ebay for about 3k. anybody know where i can get a better price or one with low miles?

have you tried the local junkyards? they are going for about 2-4k for first gens
not yet. i'm not too keen on junkyard engines. i love junkyards for other parts but engines i'm just not a big fan of. i don't like the idea of all the work taking it out and putting it in mine and finding out something is wrong with it 
plus i'd rather put the money in a fellow LS owner's pocket than a business

most junkyards have warrantys you know.

I got an extra 05 engine with super low miles I bought for 600.00 here locally from an indoor wrecker but I'm not selling.
The thing looks almost brand new.
This will be the year I put ILLs's turbo kit on so I may need my spare.
There are 2 gen1 being parted out here locally on craigslist. check there
