My ONLY regret of the purchase of my LS is that its a v6... other than that, i really like it, sometimes i do hate it

What can i do to power up the v6? right now my engine is stock and im looking to drop about 1500 soley on performance, here are my ideas...

1) CAI
2) Magnaflow exhaust
3) XCAL2
4) Zex Kit

Is this a good route? i would rather have a complete engine swap, but after searching the forums it seems its pretty much not going to happen, due to compter compatibility

anayways, heres a few shots of my car, i get challanged every now and then, and i really would like to see them in my rear view mirror more often than now

nice ride good choice cant beat a black LS BUT yea thats all you can really do with your LS unless you want to ad a turbocharger like quickls is doing but thats taking him fore ever to do...

That's a nice lookin LS man. The mods that you listed I think are the most that you can do for the V6 LS.

I have a V6 LS, almost 2 years ago I added a CAI, but removed it after about 2 months because of it being to loud for my liking.

I stopped trying to modify for the performance as I don't think that it's gonna be worth it. The tranny is pretty messed up in these cars and don't want to have anymore problems with it at all because of some minor performance addition.

Now I just enjoy the quiet ride and the attention that I get from females in this car. For better performance I have 2 bimmers.

yea i would want to do this, but like you said Quik is taking too long, plus we still dont know how this will work in the long run, if any problems arise from doing this

im still on the fence about doing anything performance wize.. cuz like u said i dunno if it will be worth it

lucky u with ur bimmers... hows the 02 holdin up... u get any problems with it yet? .... i really want an 01-02 -- 525i/530i/540i ... im pretty sure one of those will be next car

Well, as for the BMWs, I have had the 90 325i for about 2 and a half years now and it's been great, replaced the fuel pump once.

The 02, I had if for about 4 months now and I put about 8k miles on it since, I had one sensor go bad but as my car is certified with a 100,000mile warranty I have to pay only some minor figures.

If you will ever want to buy an E39 BMW (97-03 5 series), get an 03 540i with M sport package. This car has a 290hp engine (282hp before 03), a shorter ratio LSD, beautiful M5 like body kit and all the other goodies. This particular car with this color combination is very rare and was sold on Ebay couple of months ago for only $25,900 and it had 55k miles on it.

hey you know i never liked the LS's that had the chrome on the bumpers until i saw yours - maybe its the pic but yours looks very clean.

You've named all the mods except the cold air box for the CAI. The biggest HP bang for the buck on the '01 will be the ZEX, Magnaflow, Xcal, CAI in that order. The auto V6, though is never going to be a "fast" car, the transmission and the rear end just don't add up to great performance.

The bigest advantage the V6 has is in handling, the 51/49 weight distribution bests amost any production car on the road. With the V6 I'd be more inclined to lower the car and upgrade the brakes before I added the Zex kit. The NO2 will give you better straight line performance, though, on a heavy car like the LS, you'll never catch up with the smaller import crowd, but you can leave them behind on the twisties.

I had a '02 V6. I tried a couple different intake ideas, sealed forced fed, filter located below, etc. etc. I found that a gutted stock airbox with a k&n panal filter worked best and didnt produce funky shifting with the tranny. I guess the only other money worth spending is the exhaust as the older V6's had a restrictive exhaust. You could accomplish all that for under $700 and have acceptable performance with your V6. I always hated how it had to practically redline to get it to move. Its not gonna win any racing but it'll get you some respect out of luxury sedan. You could go the nitrous route but i think thats a copout. If its a daily driver keep it simple with intake/exhaust and be happy with its great handling.

I think its kind of a lame remark that the 6 will never be fast. If you can make a honda civic into a 11 second car, you can make the ls into one also.

I heard all kinds of crap like that about the big heavy american v6 grand prix too.

now I have one that is over 300hp and one over 400hp. A little know how and the will to support the project can go a long long way.

Personally, I have 2 project street/strip cars so I wont spend much If any money on the lincoln. I want it to be what it is. Comfortable, good looking, reliable transportation, with a little class.

^^^ what he said.. also i do have a price limit, im not going to drop 3 grand on this car, when i can instead sell it, add maybe 3-5 grand and get a 03+ v8

im still undecided on doing anything at all, maybe im better off pocketing the money, College is expensive

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply the V6 COULDN't be fast, I said the AUTO V6 couldent. It's just that with a $1500 budget he couldn't afford to replace all the parts that would hold him back or break with a lot higher HP. Heck, Noble has the same Duratec block producing 425 HP, but you're gonna spend upwards of $10,000 to upgrade everything in the engine and the rest of the drivetrain to produce and handle that kind of power. Just think what else you could drop into the LS for that kind of money and go way over the 425.

Yes, a $1500 budget will not get you far, but for 2x that you might be able to fab up a turbo manifold and get a turbo forcefeeding the throttlebody. You might have to toss in some bigger fuel injectors and reprogram for them.

because the aftermarket isnt really here (and probably never will be), you have to either get someone with the know how that is in the community to step up or find a good speed shop that can do it for you. You wont get the instant gradification of tossing a couple bills at something and going fast but it would pay off in the end.

The GP aftermarket was tiny for years.... until Scott Cook and Zooomer, two racers with grand prixs fabed parts for themselves to use but ended up starting two different companys that now supply probably 80% or more of the parts for those cars now. (and both have 9 second grand prix now)

Reminds me a lot of Quik.

The "anything is possible" attitude is getting soooooo old regarding the LS. Are you seriously comparing a Pontiac Grand Prix to a Lincoln LS? Really? Good for the folks with a 9 second Grand Prix, i am sure there is a 9 second Ford Festiva, a 9 second Gremlin, a 9 second Pacer. The LS isnt a car that accepts mods like any of those cars. None. If quik ever gets the engine to function correctly then it'll be the tranny or rearend that goes.

As I said before, the LS's best feature is it's handling, I'm more inclined to spend on shocks, springs and tires/wheels and leave 'em in the dust on the twisties.
