Lookin to move into the Phoenix, Az area from MN.
Was curious if you do anything special to your car in consideration to the heat, and general changes for a warm weather car customization/preparation. Was thinking about getting seals redone / a new paint job eventually so that will be taken care of at some point.
Also any other things i should note about the area in general would be appreciated, i have some possible job availability and a friend would be going to school as well in the area at UTI for Ford/Lincoln mechanic training.
Any notes to the SW'tern US works too. I plan on visiting LA, San Diego, and Albuquerque n such so any attractions of note work too.
*edit*
Also. Gas millage in the area would be nice, premium, 92 preferably or 93 if available. and what gas station should i look for to carry that?

Well im not from arizona but it gets very hot here in north texas and the main thing is to have a good quality dark tint.

As well as trying to keep the vehicle garaged or under some type of cover/carport to slow down oxidation. Ice cold ac is a must and always use a sunshade on the inside...it can drop temps a lot and protect those front seats and dash.

What Black says pretty much is what you should consider.

Gas is close to California prices sometimes as it gets trucked from California.

Anything on your car will get hot FAST if left in the sun for just a few minutes. So hot that it may leave a welt.

Always be aware of the possibility of the LS plastic water pipes breaking. Don't want to get stuck on the freeway with 115 temps out.

San Diego, Los Angeles ...6 hours away. Las Vegas - 5 hours away.

People go away a lot in the summer due to the heat. July/August is the worst. 100 degrees at midnight, 85 at sun up.

As it is so dry here, it can be a challenge to wash a car as it evaporates so fast especially if the paint is hot.

Freeways here are all covered in rubberized asphalt. Smooth and quieter than concrete. Also few potholes due to little rain.

Last but not least, go out to 'Pavillions' on Saturday afternoons. Good car show with lots of Corvettes, Camaros, everything. Never see any Lincolns unfortunately. Oh, and Jackson-Barrett is in January. Lots to see.

I just got back from vegas. Definately right about how dry it is--I am used to 60-99% humidity all year, and it was like 11% when I was there. The weather is real nice right now, but I know that it gets hot soon. I live in Key West and we get some heat, but nothing like the desert. I have to keep my cooling system bled and topped off (twice a year maybe). Despite having covered parking at my house I do not at work and as a result the paint on the roof and trunk lid of my car are in bad shape. I also had the steering wheel recoverd due to leather damage. I used a sun shade until i broke my passanger side sunvisor 4 years ago, but I agree that it and tint are very important.
