Hi, i just bought a 93 Mark 8 for the drive train. Going to stuff it into a 1967 Volvo 122S. It ran when I bought it. While fooling around with it at home I activated the PANIC button somehow and noticed in turning off the key that the black assist ring thing turned without the key in. At his point the ANTI THEFT alarm came on. It didn't occur to me that the entry remote device had caused the problem. Only thing I could think to do was to disconnect the battery. I have now replaced the ignition key cylinder but still have no functions other than an open door alarm and idiot lites for anti-theft, check engine, check battery, and check oil. When I turn on the key I hear relays clicking under the hood and in the trunk.

Interesting feedback - the gas gauge has defaulted to past full; and when I turn the key to the start position the tach jumps to 600 RPM?

I am wondering if I need to somehow reset the anti theft system. Bought a repair manual but it isn't even mentioned??

hmmm try to use the key to unlock the door - worked on '03 Expedition after my wife had left the windows down, locked the car with the fob, then reached inside and used the inner door handle to open the door. Would not start, even after 30 min. Lock unlock with the fob did nothing. I just tried the key in the driver's door and locked and unlocked it. Started right up.

thanks Frat man, i tried it an it sort of worked?? The Anti theft flasher is now off, but the car still will not start. When turning the key to the start position I hear the starter solenoid click (a single click) but that is all. I am now charging the battery. I will check voltage at the solenoid and starter tomorrow.

thanks again

Yes it was. I found out how to disconnect the anti theft, put some gas in it, jumped it andit started right up.

thanks
