Saturday, my son rolls up the right front window and when it hits the top, he gets the dreaded "crash, bang, tinkle tinkle tinkle" and the window will no longer move. At least it was up!! I pulled the door panel off Sunday and sure enough, one of the plastic cable guides/rollers is sitting at the bottom of the door in pieces.

My question...this looks like a VERY easy regulator replacement compared to many I have done in the past. However, the manual states that the window MUST come out to do this replacement...and to get the window out, you have to lower the regulator. Since the regulator won't move, how are you guys accomplishing this? Can I just unbolt the window, hold it in place, then unbolt the regulator and remove it? Or does the window actually HAVE to come out? Experience here would be very valuable to me. Thanks!

Oh yea...by the way...my son called up a Lincoln dealer close to me Saturday (Fiesta) and asked if they had a regulator in stock and how much was it. They said they had it and it was $160 plus tax. I told them to bite me. That's above retail. I called up my buddy at 5 Star Ford (they're my SVT dealer) and he sold me one for $50 less than that. Props to the guys at 5 Star...and Fiesta can KMA.

Haven't had to do the fronts, but on the rear, I just wedged it in with some plastic bondo spreaders and some duct tape while I swapped it out.

I sure hope that works Jes...because that is exactly what I had in mind. Just use tape from one side of the window, over the top of the door, to the other side. Then just unbolt everything and pull it out. I hope I have access to the bolts that hold the window!
