First off, I spent almost an hour skimming threads by using the "search" function. :D

Just ordered an Optima Yellow Top, since my battery is toast. It won't hold a charge, and I've had to jump it the past few days since it's getting pretty cold now.

This is the battery I'm getting. Did I pick the right one?

Part# D34/78

Yeah, in all the threads I read, that's what a lot of people said. The big issue was hooking up a vent tube. There are 2 felt pucks on the optima. I'll rig something up, and run the existing vent tube, but modified to attach and cover those felt locations. I'll also cover the retainer bar in electrical tape, so it won't explode if it comes into contact with the positive terminal on the side of the battery. Problem solved :D

And luttersj, where were you when we had our last meet in Coon Rapids?

Umm, I'm not sure. I know there was one earlier this year that I couldn't make it to. I had a race that weekend in Brainerd. Not sure if that's the one that you're talking about or not. Who was there? You and John?

I'd sort of like to get together so I can hear your car in person! Youtube just doesn't quite cut it for me.

I came into this thread because my 8 month old Motorcraft battery was stone dead on me over the weekend. Ever since I've owned this car I've had trouble keeping a battery charged. so far my warranty has covered any and all battery issues but that expires in 7000 miles (at 75,000) so I need to find a solution for after that.

It was me, Nic (fbird18), Tyler (crackerjack), and John. John didn't have the LS with, but he still showed up to BS and check out the new mods.

How often do you make it up to Brainerd? I'm only an hour away from there. I hear they have a road course at BIR now.... :shifty:

I'm sure the next meet won't be until spring. But I do make it down to the twin cities every once in a while. I could let you know next time I make it down there. The LS will probably be dirty, so no pictures, but then you can hear the exhaust.

I'll let you know Friday how it goes with the battery.

yeah, please let me know how it goes with the battery. That info will probalby come in handy.

Sounds like a pretty good turn out. I'll have to try to make it next time.

I scanned your BIR comment for sarcasm and didn't pick up anything. But BIR has had a road course for a long time. maybe since the beginning even! Maybe what you heard about is the new "short" course. it uses the old road course but eliminates the drag strip by going through the infield. It's a much more technical course but you can still hit 150ish on a 600cc bike. So it's still plenty high speed!!

They actually havea lot of track days up there for cars to run the road course. I'll bet there's one per month. it's usually a car club that rents the place (BMW/Subaru/etc) but anyone can sign up. I've always wanted to do that! But what to take: my LS8 or the wife's 325i. it's a horsepower track. better take the LS!!

Sorry, didn't mean to sound sarcastic. I'm just excited that I might be able to get my LS on a road course!

Hmmm... maybe the spring meet could be at BIR, with all of us running the road course. That would be really fun!

Nic's sister is a photographer. Maybe we could even get her up there to photograph us on the track. This is sounding better and better the more I think about it. Any idea what it costs on the open track days?

No, I wasn't accusing you of being sarcastic. I just wasn't sure if you knew about the road course or not...

Anyway, I'm not sure how much a car track day costs. For bikes it's about $165 IIRC. I'd be surprised it it's over $200 for cars.

Here's a diagram showing the layout of both tracks: click me

There's also a lot of Youtube stuff. But I can't get that for you now since I'm at work. But you can try "CRA at BIR" or some combo like that for some cool on board action.

I don't think it would be over that. After skimming that site, I saw their performance driving school (1 full day) is $265 when you use your vehicle.
