Ok, guys. I finally got around to putting my Rotor Pro brakes on last weekend. Threw the G2 Caliper paint on as well. One bummer was that the thickness of the new pads pushed the caliper face right up against my aftermarket wheels. I couldn't really tell HOW close it was, but it looked like there was very little clearance. I should have checked with a playing card to see if there was at least some gap, but didn't. I also didn't have access to my factory 17's to see if they would be better until the pads wore down a little bit. The clearance was just enough not to cause a major issue, but there were 2 small spots on both calipers that ended up being caught by the wheel's rotation.
That's actually not why I'm posting - I've got another issue as a result of doing the brakes. It's similar to what a few others have posted, but not exact. I did go ahead and do the prerequisite searching and review of threads relating to this - especially those in the Read This Before Posting Stickie.
My ABS stays lit when the car is started after the preliminary checks it goes through. Once the car starts moving, the "Check Traction Control" comes on. The latter happens at inconsistent times, but it ALWAYS comes on. It will come on when the car is sitting still, or if the car is moving at 5 mph or 20 mph. I was initially thinking a wheel sensor had gotten bumped or affected while doing the brakes. I got my hopes up when I remembered that the SCT X3 can read DTC's, so I plugged that puppy in and looked for ward to finding out exactly where the problem was. No dice. The X3 indicates that there are no DTC's being generated, so I'm back to having to pull all the wheels and check and/or clean (and test, if necessary) all the sensors. There goes Saturday - and I was going to use a good portion of it to nail down a good photo spot to grab my calendar entry. I do have the extended warranty, which means that it will only cost me $50 to take it to the Stealership to have them scan it and replace anything or clean/adjust but I'd rather keep the half-a-Benjamin if possible.
So, anyone else have any ideas - outside of the obvious one of "pull all the wheels and check each sensor" suggestion? Brake fluid level is good, although I was wondering if it was too high after putting the new pads on. Double-checking this showed that it's just a little under Max Fill Level right now. I was hoping that there would be a way to clear it (without unplugging the battery) to see it would go away but am thinking that I'm going to have to tear into again. The brakes work fine - there's no pulsation, stuttering, or such. I can engage/disengage the parking brake.
Thanks in advance,
TRU
