so the past week or so the LS8 has been acting up a little. i'll be driving and then the car almost shuts down electronically....the needles all max out on the guages then return to where they were. sometimes the stereo turns off then back on. its almost like the whole thing is resetting itself. it only last about 1-2 seconds and it doesnt seem to affect the engine or steering at all....drivability doesnt seem tobe affected. not sure whats going on....anyone else have this happen or any ideas what it could be?

I would start by measuring battery voltage while the car is running. It should be at about 14V give or take 0.4V. I suspect that your alternator may be failing. You may need to get one of those voltage gauges that plug into the power port to catch it while you are driving.

If that isn't it, then it is probably a loose electrical connection, either one of the major grounds, or one of the major electrical power distribution points. Do these odd electrical events happen when you hit a bump?

My car did that a couple times, then just refused to start one day while the girlfriend had it. My starter was fried.

ive thought about it being a battery/alt issue as well. i do have an audio system in the car but upgradede to yellow top battery and to a high output alt. i have checked the connection on the batery itself and those are good but havent done the voltage check yet. and it HAS happened while driving over a bump before...what does that change/mean?

That certainly points in the direction of a loose electrical connection somewhere. There are lots of grounds to check and a few major electrical power junctions. I think I'd start with the junctions. (I see you've already verified the battery connections in the trunk.)
