On the 2006 3.9L LS, had to replace the alternator, (150K) bearings going out. In the repair manual/all data diy/you tube, shows removing the stabilizer bar or jacking up the engine to remove the lower (long) bolt which hits the stabilizer going toward front of the engine. I ended up taking my dremel and cutting the original bolt while it was extended and sliding it out. I then went to LOWES and found a Stainless steel replacement, slightly longer 6", need 5.5" so I cut it and then you can insert from back side instead of front side to back with no clearance between stabilizer and aternator. Also the manual instructions show removing the bracket attached to the block to remove alternator, however I was able to leave in place and elevate and rotate alternator and lower to remove between frame components etc. Hope this helps someone, it's not an easy job.
