Anyone have an alarm on their car? I'd like to get one, but would like to know how easy they are to install etc.

If it's just an alarm and not alarm/remote start combo they are pretty straight forward. I only recommend Viper. They seem to be the best and I have never had one come back because of product issues.

My friends Caprice SS has a viper system in it, it works really well, the price is fairly high, but is ~$250 what I should be expecting for a good alarm system?

any DEI brand (viper, python, clifford,...) are all very good brands, if you just doing a basic alarm with out any extra sensors (tilt, glass break, or field disturbance) its pretty easy. if you doing a alarm w/ remote start it gets a little harder, and a lot more time consuming, make sure that if you get just an alarm that you are not going to want a remote start later down the road, because seperate alarm and R/S unit usualy have a diffulcult time working together with out problems, and it is a pain in the ass to pull a alarm out and put a nother alarm w/ R/S in it
