93 Mark, alarm goes off by itself. Will not start since last incident. Have disconnected positive battery cable and un-plugged both plugs on anti theft module, still no start. Any ideas?

Quick response-
the anti-theft stuff in the ignition cylinder.

My alarm used to go off at 3 AM in the morning. Unfortunately for my neighbors, I couldn't hear it inside. My poor neighbor did though.

I eventually just disconnected the alarm behind the glovebox.

Does it crank but no start?

Yes, have fuel pressure and spark.

Already disconnected module behind glove box.

Maybe the Alarm module told the PATS module to kill the ignition for whatever reason? ~shot in the dark~

'The hell let you out of the politics forum? :p

No PATS on the Gen1. Got me stumped. Battery disconnect should have cleared code for "theft attempt" or whatever from PCM. May have to go over and plug in the SuperStar.

heres something simple and stupid to try, punch in the door code. then try it. cant hurt to try, unless its already been done.

When mine did that I locked and then unlocked the driver's door with the key. I was able to start it after that. I found the cause of the issue in my trunk wiring. The cable tie anchor had broken and allowed the cable that runs down the side of the hinge to get pinched between the body and the trunk lid. I tied the harness back on to the hnge arm and have not had the problem since.
If you have a short like I did, resetting the alarm manually with the keylock may not work until you find the short.
Good luck.

Yeah, tried that.

I'll take a look at the wire harness, maybe the cause. I know my 93 is all taped up already.

i had the sameproblem with mine, use the fob to lock and unlock it, worked for me

No fob, but did try it with the key and keypad.

I guess he replaced the anti-theft module with another one. Someone else told him it was bad, tow operator I think. He called stealership and they say new module need to be calibrated with the PCM. $90 to do that by them.

I'm going over later with my manuals and the trusty SuperStar diagnostic toy and see if we can save the $90.

Put the key to on then wait 3seconds, then press the button underneath the streering wheel then see if it starts

+1 on button.

Car is off to stealership. Pulled DTC 542 fuel pump secondary circuit failure. Not sure if that is part of anti theft disable or not.

Stealership lived up to their reputation. $132.50 to tell him the fuel pump was out, and put a battery in the fob (couldn't even program it!). Nothing about "recalibrating PCM with new module". I could not find anything in my service manual about the recalibrate. All it said was replace and retest. I assume the disable feature for the anti theft is on the starter, like my old Caddy, and not the fuel pump. Live, pay out the arse, and learn. So glad I bought the SuperStar and all the manuals for my 93 :)

Oh yeah, $900 for the pump @ stealership.

Did you pay $900 for the fuel pump?
