he airbag light came on a few months ago and I am finally sick of looking at it. Took it to my trusted shop and they told me that there is a special wire under the driers seat thats gold plated and hard to get to...so can I do something to shut off that light (besides eletricial tape over the light) or can it be a fuse that I can yank out, or do I just dal with it?
Thanks
Andy

Yep. Common problem (it's not the wire, it's a connector that the wire breaks at. The connector may be gold plated, the wire is not). It's not that special. It's not at all hard to get to. You trusted the wrong shop. Find a real mechanic or find a good Ford/Lincoln dealer.

How about your horn, and steering wheel radio/ cruise controls? Iirc, if they are out as well, then its more than likely a clockspring, behind your steering wheel.

Thanks joegr...So I can get this part at a local ford dealer and do it myself? Do I have to take the seat out or just work on it in the car?
Thanks Again...much appriecated!

Yes, you can get it at your dealer. You don't have to take the seat out, but it will be easier if you detach it from the floor (just four bolts to take off to do this). Be sure to disconnect the battery and let it sit an hour or two before you start.

...I spent the almost $200 for the clock spring and let it sit in my trunk for about 2 months, because I didn't want to pay the dealer to put it in..lol. Got it installed in 20 minutes last night..(no lie it actually took 20 minutes for it to be installed.) Got the horn and cruise back..only question is the airbag light will sometimes come back on for a 3 second flash interval (flashes 3 times like there might still be a code stored or something..) then it eventually goes out. Kinda hard to be in NYC with no damn horn...:) This is an easy fix..just costly for the part. Godspeed to the forum..nothing better.

There are a couple of good how-to threads on this. Search the site for underseat connector, using google. I've worked on this connector, and it's easy.

I cant wait to do my clockspring. I bought an "Aooga" horn off of my cousin, and I want to get it installed lmbo

Heh heh, those only sound right when mounted to the roof.

It'll definitely turn some heads lol. Its frackin huge, so I have no idea where to mount it... not a lot of space in the engine bay :-/ are our horns standard two wire setups?
