The Airbag light wires broke off at the base of the connector, i dont really see a way to securely attach a new wire.
It seems like the wires are not removable, the pink plastic is molded in?

I could probably solder a wire, but if I do that it seems like any little tug and it will disconnect.

What is the best bet here?

Buy a replacement (repair) connector with a short pigtail, and splice your existing wires to the pigtail.

(If I knew the part number, I've tell it to you.)

Repair kits are available from Ford, as I've been working on an Escape that had the TSB repair for them. You really want to use the Ford kit (~35) rather then spade connectors. This is the circuit for the seatbelt tensioner should you be in an accident.

While the airbag will still work for that seat, and the seatbelt will work off the inertia reel (you'll have a really bad bruise due to the excessive motion of a loose belt) this is a lawsuit waiting to happen if anyone claims injury. Why take the chance for $35. You probably could fine a connector in a salvage yard from a Ford vehicle that shot off the airbags/pretensioner and possibly get it for free.

The under seat connector should be for the airbag in the side of the seat. The seat belt reel with the explosive charge is not a part of the seat. It's in the C pillar at the floor. I agree that the correct connector should be used, but more so that the next owner of the car doesn't set off an airbag wondering what the spade connectors under the seat are for.

Or, if $35 is too much, go to a pick 'n pull and grab a connector from a car, then splice it in. Not as good as a new connector, which I hope comes disassembled so it can be installed like new, but at least it's the right part.

Just in case this happens to anyone else. I actually ended up salvaging it, I just cut the face of it down in and out the side, this exposed its wires and I was able to splice into them
