Air ram project

no no i took the hose out while i was driving my own car, i took it out of the window.
i thought that this would work this way:
the hose is going to re-direct air to the airbox, so inside the airbox will be more airflow that the engine can suck. that doesnt work that way?

should i continue my project?

To be honest, anything short of a 4" diameter hose with a nozzle sticking out in front of the grill is unlikely to do anything. Even at that, it may not make up for the drag that it adds to the aerodynamics of the car.

If you want it to be smoother and more responsive, then your best bet is to replace all the coils and plugs. Could you be more specific about what isn't smooth?

i was thinking of doing something similar to this. i was (maybe still am) going to get some type of funnel (paint it black to be less noticeable) and put that next to the fog light. and have some tube run to my cone filter and have like a mesh screen in the tube somewhere (maybe near the funnel's end) to act as a 'pre filter'. u kno, just in case it sucks up that squirrel that wants to play chicken lol

Senior Hernandez, All you are doing is getting fresh air to the box, which is a good thing. To get a Ram Air sytle intake, you will have to fabricate something with a scoop on the hood to force air into the thottle body.

dNyce LS, the mesh grill is a great idea. today im going to test it, install my prototype and see how it works. ill let you know, thanks for the idea. i used a big bottle top to make it like a funner after a little research funnel would be the most aerodynamic and best shape.
but i hope it doesnt make too much noise.

I used 3'' pvc pipes, wanted 4 but was too big. It fits, you just have to cut that little angled flap to the pipe can cross into the lower grille. I used the stock air box, seem better than what I would've used before, plus it was rectangular and fit real good in the lower grille. You have the right idea but just re-think the material. The 5 liter top was good especially since it has a smooth funnel. Just use better piping. You wont notice any benefits from take off obviously, but while driving on the freeway and making the car down shift, it was more responsive, enough to feel. Not enough to say I need it and can't imaging myself without it, since i haven't put it back on after installing the lse bumper, but it was a cool experiment and got small, small gains from it. Here are some pics.

Oh and I also had to cut the opening below the intake and make it bigger for the pipe to fit, but it all fits good.If you look through the hole in the last pic, you can see a part of the wheel well plastic I trimmed for the pipe to go through.
