New to the site. I have received lots of good information from yall so thanks for that. Today I was cleaning out my air filter and noticed that a hose was broken off of the air intake. I have googled and can't seem to figure out what it goes to and if I can simply replace the plastic that broke. Thanks for any help.

I dont think that plastic nipple on the intake tube is replaceable. Im not sure exactly what it does but I do have a factory intake tube I will sell you. $60 shipped. If you have the plastic piece that broke off you could JB weld it back on.
Or you could buy the polished aluminum intake tube from ASMI on ebay. Its pretty sweet, $170 shipped and you have to buy a MAF adapter and cone filter. You are looking at about $230-250 for that setup.

P.S.....CLEAN THAT ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND BE PROUD OF THAT LS

Thanks for the help.
Whats the advantage to the cold air intake realistically? Besides making my car sound a lot better, which would be nice, is there any noticeable difference in power or gas mileage?
Money is tight right now and if I dont get any real advantages with the cold air intake it will be hard to justify.
Thanks again

also, if I decide to get the intake tube and MAF adapter, what size cone filter? 4" by what? 5", 7", 9"? those seem to be the options. thanks again

Lincoln/Ford part number: YM4Z8B502AA lists for $301 but can be purchased for $231. If you only need the hose assembly because the small hose port broke you can get it cheaper: http://www.europartsdirect.com/searchitem.epc
Part number: XR827648 alot cheaper. $105.00. The OEM does not allow the replacement of either hose on the ends but this one does. The OEM part comes with 4 of the 5 hoses connected as well as the thermostat & housing, this one doesn't, just the center plastic manifold and the 2 end hoses. One hose connects to radiator the other to the thermostat housing. Don't know if this is a GEN 1 only part or not. Food for thought. MAX may have more info.
This hose assembly is listed as applicatable to 3.0L V6 Jag S-Type 2000 - 2002. So it may be only for Gen 1 V6.
I had same problem this fixed it.

This thread is titled AIR INTAKE HOSE. I'm wondering why you are giving part numbers for cooling system parts

thanks for all the help and the offers. I need to think if I want to just replace this one or go ahead with the cold air intake. at the very least i think I will be buying a heat shield from you! thanks for all your help, ill PM you soon about the shield.

Thanks guys

thanks for all the help. I am still deciding on whether or not to just go ahead and do the cold air intake. If i decide against it, I will definitely hit one of yall up for a replacement.

I will probably also be ordering one of your heat shields, so thanks for that. I will pm you soon.

No problem

Just a used one or the K&N polished or black plastic. You will get some power from it. I was neck and neck with my friends 05, after the intake I would walk him. Not pull hard but walk him.

I actually went to buy an aluminum intake tube tonight but cant find the one you recommended. any ideas on where the best place to pick one up is? Thanks
