It started off so wonderful......had to go give blood for my monthly blood tests. So off to the hospital that I go to that's about an hour away. It's cool to drive that far....the wife wanted to do shopping and I had to get my glasses fixed. Jump in the LS with the better half to get the kids from school.

Why isn't my speaker working?..Great the passenger side speaker must not be working....yep, should have soldered that connection. Well I guess I'll to fix that some time soon.

Well got the kids and on our way.....ok that is annoying....no speaker. All of a sudden "crunch"

Ummmm honey...my window won't go up.....I didn't even have to look...passenger window regulator broke......guess I'll be fixing window and speaker Sat or Sun now.

Ahhhhhh.....wonderful sound of a window that will not go up all the way now for a nice 2 hour round trip. By the time we are about 10 miles away from home it's dark....I'm annoyed......and ready to get home...when the wife gasps.....DEEEEEER!!!

Right in the middle of the rode.....thank God no one was behind me.....I slammed on the breaks.......to my surprise.....no screching tires...no hard pedal bounce, no wheel jerk, no hard nose dive......about 2 little chirps from the tires......some smoke from the breaks....and a stupid deer standing there stearing at me.

After every thing that car did to me today......it did everything it needed to do when I needed.....I've never had an Anti-lock system work so well.

At least you knew better then to swerve for a deer.

swerve [swɜːv]
vb
1. to turn or cause to turn aside, usually sharply or suddenly, from a course
2. (tr) to avoid (a person or event)

Or hitting something larger than a deer.

Hahaha I learned my lesson swerving from deer, in my grand am years back I tried that and the deer ran the same way I swerved. Wasn't to pretty

Many years back I was driving home from work....I worked 2nd and drove through deer country Iowa.....I saw this massive buck......Let me tell you.....I was TRYING to hit it.....haha.

You can't hit them if you want too!!

I've hit about 4 in my 18 years or so of driving.....never anything major.....a scratch here and some hair there.

Yeah, I was coming home from an overnight shift in my previous line of work (IT),
Was like 6:30ish on a back roads to my house. AKA Deerwood estate, in my old 2001 GMC Jimmy, I was traveling slow enough as the speed limit it only 60Kmh and the crown in the road is bad along that shortcut of that stretch. I see from my 2o'clock a stupid deer coming out of the brush. Sure enough, human instinct kicks in and I jerk her to the left a bit. Pulled it straight in the opposite lane just before peggin off some gravel.

Ended up saving my right front headlight, bumper and fender. Big loud band on the right rear. I screech to a halt and all I can think about is "Insurance Premium Increase"

I get out and look back down the road and said WTF where did she go ?
I look over the right side of the Jimmy 4X4 and I find nothing more then a little fur stuck
in between where the plastic molding meets the rear drivers door dog-leg.

Hip checked her back into the brush, not a single mark on the right rear, just some fur stuck in the molding.

I venture into the brush a bit a few feet in and there she lay, broken neck, still warm, still breathing. Big patch of fur missing on her tummy, rear wheel grinded that off in seconds. Three of her friends in the woods onlooking, I had no knife with me that day and nothing to cover the rear carpeting of my interior in the Jimmy, so I had to leave her there.

Sorry Bambi, next time look both ways before crossing the road.

Here in Canada we are required to phone in any wild life accidents to the Ministry, I just went to bed instead.

Since then I do not swerve for wild life, even with the Big Rig, I run over fresh road kill for good measures, smooth it out if you will.
Ran over a fox that crossed my path, BUMP and it was soup out the rear tandems.

I've always been able (luck) to slow down and hang the horn for deer to date.
Where there is one, there is a second and more.

No more swerving. (fighting human nature normal reactions)

Was able to see this afternoon why the speaker quite....yep should have used solder. BUT the window is another story. The clips were not broke....the cable fell off the track and now seems to be completly messed up.....I only have 1 regulator that is not broken in the car, the drivers rear. I "fixed" the drivers a few months back....the top hook on the plastic clips are broke but it still goes up and down now after doing some work on it.

The rear passenger clip must be broke because I can grab the window up and down...it's free, when I had it apart I could feel a hole in the window but nothing sticking through it.

But I don't think I can fix this one. One of the top hooks on the plastic clips is broken off...which seems like it may have happened when the cable slipped off. It seems like the cable may have spun 1 to many times from one side due to now one side is loose and the other side is way too tight....to the point I can't replace the clip....I thought about removing the motor and trying to rewind it....but I know it will just mess up more.
