does it happen during regular driving or under wide open throttle? i just replaced the #3 coil. but when i drive and if i floor it it will accelerate then when it switches gear it feels like it doesnt catch. it will rev and then catch it and switch gears. it was the same problem i had previoulsy but i thought it was my pcm or valve body and solenoid. by the way i have a 2001 v6 sport. how hard is it to change the coils? if i drive regularly i have no problems but if i get on it is when i have problems. after i had the coil fixed it had no problem i'm just hoping another coil didnt go out.

I have a 2000 V6 and I had the same problem, I replaced all 6 coils, all 6 plugs, all the gaskets and the pcv hose(which go bad too). Now it runs like a dream. But I did have the same hesitation and wierd shifting patterns and from what i searched and read about it is caused by bad coils. BTW, I was told only my #2 cylinder was bad, but when I took apart my engine, every single coil and plug and well had oil in them. I would just replace them all.

Coils start to go bad show up under load.

So when you get on it or try to pull for a pass, that is when it starts to act up.

The OEM design is marginal at best and if it just happens to be on the low side of the production tolerances then it will begin to fail at the slightest hint of additional load.

Oil - heat - worn plugs - all contribute to failure.

how hard is it to change my coils. and is there a write up. i would search but i got homework that needs to be finished.

come on man since you don't have time to search we should spend time doing it for you? not cool. look at the tech sections.
