A question

Hi guys :) .

My brother's LS has a problem . The problem occurred two hours ago . When he started the engine the car started to shudder when he shifted the gear to drive the car kept shuddering until he reached 65 mph then the car ran fine.

The car is a 2005 V8 with 38K . Any ideas ???

If it's under warranty still, just bring it in and let them fix whatever the problem is. I wouldn't even bothering posting trying to find out what a problem is if I still had a warranty. :D

Thanks for the info :D . My brother called and he was freaked out because the car is still brand new to him :D . The problem occurred at night so he'll go to the dealership first thing in the morning .

All 2003 to 2005 V8 LS's are covered for 10 years / 100,000 miles for coil problems.
 
Apparently Ford thinks they are fixed in the 06 LS.
The valve cover oil leak problem was apparently fixed on the 04 and up models, but not the 03s.

From the R07M07 document

"AFFECTED 2004 AND 2005 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES
Some of the vehicles may experience an engine misfire condition predominantly due to internal
breakdown in the coil and lack of adhesion between the epoxy and the coil housing material.
These issues may cause the coil to operate at an insufficient voltage level, resulting in ignition coil
misfires. Drivability symptoms associated with an ignition coil misfire include rough running
engine, surge or hesitation on acceleration, and/or illumination of the check engine light."

"AFFECTED 2003 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES
Some of the vehicles may experience an engine misfire condition predominantly due to internal
breakdown in the coil and lack of adhesion between the epoxy and the coil housing material.
These issues may cause the coil to operate at an insufficient voltage level, resulting in ignition coil
misfires. In addition, the valve cover gaskets may allow engine oil to enter the spark plug well and
cause degradation of the ignition coil boot, resulting in ignition coil misfire. Drivability symptoms
associated with an ignition coil misfire include rough running engine, surge or hesitation on
acceleration, and/or illumination of the check engine light."

Thank you so much for the clarification :) . Did Ford warn their 2003-2005 LS clients about this problem ??

Apparently my car didn't get that memo. At 14k miles now and already had 5 coils replaced under warranty.

I assume that yours is an 06? My 06 is at 50K miles with no coil issues so far. I don't expect that to hold true forever though.
 
they wont change a coil unless it goes completely bad.. no cel no dice bastards

Thats not completely true. I've had mine replaced without a CEL a few times. They can do a threshold test to identify failure.

That wasn't the case for me. The hunted for and found bad coils based on my complaint of it feeling like it was missing a little once in a while. There was never a check engine light. They scoped the coils out.

It turned out that one of the coils had gone bad so the dealer changed it free of charge :) .
