I've got a 2005 LS8 and when i was ridding one day the DRIVER's air went out and start blowing hot, the passenger side was blowing cold still for a couple of minutes than went to warm not hot. So i waited and while, and it still was doing it as i was driving, eventually it will just blow all hot. So he next day the system started cooler than just goes to hot after i start to drive but the passenger side always starts a little cooler than the driver. Then I took it to Ford and they said that it was the temp control unit..if that what it is, where could i get it so i could put it in; becasue they have it 4 (380) bucks with my buddy's discount on the part, and if that's not it, WHAT IS IT??????? :(

The dealer is probably right but a couple things you can check that won't cost much if anything.

1st check your coolant level. I had the hot AC problem one day. The week prior to the problem I stupidly left the coolant cap off while driving and lost a lot of coolant. I refilled but didn't bleed the air. A week later I was idling on a hot day with AC on and then it went hot after awhile and didn't get cool other than occasionally for a few days. Checked the coolant level and it was down to the botto0m of the bottle, refilled and now the AC hasn't hickuped for several months. A free fix.

If you have an AC pressure guage(cheap at most stores) Check the AC freon pressure to make sure you aren't down on that. To properly fix it you will need to take it to a shop to evacuate and refill, but the "do it yourself" kits work pretty good as long as you are only a little low.

I assume the dealer checked these things but have been wrong in that assumption too many times to tell.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

well like 2 weeks before that i refilled my engine coolant because it was leaking somewhere than all of a sudden just stop?????? Should i have bleed any lines after i did a complete refill on it.

I wonder if it was leaking from the defective DCCV?

How low did it leak?

I'm not sure how long it was leaking??? The car has 52,000 on it now got it in Sept of 07 with 14,000 one day i was ridding and it just went hot(for like 3 secs than came back down) than i checked it and filled it, than it went down a little more than checked it out again and filled it up it was never a problem again. Do you think that the engine coolant could have something to do with it?? When i talked to my buddy after wards today; and i asked him again, did the tech go through everything and he said yes he did. But i doubt its the unit because it works fine and the speeds of how hard it blows is fine, just not the temp.

and i was reading the it could be the DCCV but its not blowing like COLD on one side and HOT on the other its just HOT on one and like WARM on the other maybe a little bit cooler but after a while the same HOT, now I'm reading about the coolant maybe playing a factor when i put it in the reservoir when it was low and thats all i did.

i also learning a lot more on here than at Brandon Ford, you would think that they would know something being the 6th largest Ford dealership in the nation they would know something
