Does anyone know if the center section from a 99 cobra will fit a Mark VIII?

Is there any reason one wouldn't want to do this? Seems like a cheaper and easier alternative, assuming you don't mind this setup having a few miles on it compared to brand new and rebuilt.

Whats a good price for a 99 Cobra unit with 3.73s? Is it really as easy as just buying and swapping?

Cobra's came stock with 3.27's. FRPP sold a complete pumpkin with 3.73's.

Yes, it's that easy.

I hunted for a complete Cobra diff for a couple weeks before finally giving in and just getting the parts...lucky bastard.

just bought this one this morning. I couldnt buy the parts this cheap.

SOLD being the key word..they are LONG gone..obsolete, unavailable at this time.

I figured it would be an easy swap seeing as I'm doing all the rear bushings and brakes.

Yup, and too bad. The M-4001-M373 was ~$700 at the time.

funny, thing..
I went to my local FRPP dealer with my local mustang board discount.
They wanted 730.00 prepaid, plus 27.00 for a 17.00 speedo gear, plus 28.00 for a 14.00 oil filter adapter gasket.(over 750.00). then they wanted me to "wait a week" then drive BACK up there and pick it up.

I called Max on monday, on Wednesday the whole package came thru my office door for 650.00 shipped.

When I posted those findings on the local mustang board, they went APE SH*T...and started bashing me..because I was talking crap about their preferred vendor.

From that point forward.. ALL my OEM parts came from Max at fivestar.
Who beats local dealerships like they were a red headed stepchild.
