I have a 98 STS with a blown head gasket or possibly pulled head bolts. - specifically i'm getting antifreeze into cylindar 4 and exhaust gases into my antifreeze.
Now for the question, i realize it's been asked in different forms before but i'm trying to find out if anyone has sucessfully completed it.
I have access to a 96 Eldorado northstar motor (I need to double check the vin but I believe it is a stock version. (i.e. 275 hp vin Y vehicle) for rediculously cheap money - my friend got rear ended and the car was totaled with 89,000 miles and was babied it's whole life
quite simply it would cost me about half, to replace the motor than it would for me to pull and rebuild the sts motor.
My question is has anyone done a y to 9 conversion not the opposite way around. I know there are typically final gearing concerns when it's looked at the opposite way along with possible pcm issues.
Thanks for all your help,
Steve
