97' LSC Coil Oil Problems...

OK I've put a few threads up about my problem but I figure I could ask a better ??... ok I changed out all the boots in my car and spark plugs... it's running really bad... it still has a misfire on cylinder 5... but now it's #6 too... I think it's cause when I pulled them the boot and the spring in it was all stretched...

my ??'s are one can I just replace that spring?... is there any way to test the coil itself... I know you can swap them around but the harness it's on isn't very forgiving...

also there's oil in almost all the cylinders... do you think I should change the gasket right away or do you think I have a little time... it doesn't look hard to do just it snowed here and it looks like I have to pull a lot of things to get to them...

try to remove those two coils and place them in a different cylinder, like on the other side of the engine....the harness isnt that long, but just unplug it and put it on the other side and see what happens....i know my car has a slight misfire cause one of the boots cracked....i taped it with electrical tape so i could see if that was the reason and it was....but the crack was so small and it still was missing before the tape....i would also clean those cylinders dry of oil or whatnot...i had an occasion on my thunderbird back in the day missfiring so bad just cause i had wet spark boots wet from some coolant i had in the holes....its most likely just arking somewhere or just bad coil....

also try to uplug the injctors in that cylinder as the car is running, if it changes the idle, that that means that that injector is good, and vice versa....

oh yeah didn't even occur to me that I could just unhook it... yeah there's quite a bit of oil in there... sux... it's so messy to change out... at least it's not hard... specially since I already change the plugs... thanks for the idea... hopefully I can try that out soon... I just wonder if that oil leaking in there's gonna wreck more stuff... it's not using that much really... but it can't be that good for it

Oil is leaking past the tower seals on the valve cover. It is a common problem. You must change the seals. You will ruin the new boots and plugs, if you haven't done so already. When the ultra hot oil touches the boots, they expand and become loose. This is what is causing the misfires.
