I have a series of 5 beeps then a pause and the 5 beeps again. They are not chimes. And it sounds like they come from down behind the console. They may go three to five sets and then silent for a while the they start up again. Any Ideas?

Sounds like air bags. Not the air ride air bags but the safety air bags. In my manual for codes for my car a series of beeps and the illumination of the air bag warning light means there is something wrong with the air bag system in the car. I beleive it may be the same for the newer Conti's as well. next time it beeps look for the air bag warning light it should be a amber light on the middle of the dash.

gonna guess the SRS (the safety airbags) indicator light is burned out or unplugged. my old 91 does that when I take my dash apart. because the controller dont detect a working light, it chimes to give you a warning that there is a problem. the 5 repeating (probably 5 times) is *I think* the same one my 91 does with the warning light unplugged.
