I've seen people talk about ODBII (or other way around I'm not sure) scanners and codes. My '93 spits check engine every once and a while, and I don't have anti-lock brakes. I've also read that auto parts stores can pull codes for you, is there a cost? I'd just like to know why randomly my check engine light comes on, sometimes after a quick race, others just until it warms up. Thanks

Call your local parts stores and ask if they can pull a 93 mark viii check engine codes .You can buy a scanner for $30 dollars new it will be a actron scanner with a book i think the part # is 9015 actron ford/merc/linc.You have a soft code sounds like a o2 sensor comes on for a minute then goes off and i am guessing your fuel millage is bad

terrible. I was getting 11.5-12 (I stay on top of it haha) But with this tank, I'm at 100 miles and avg 13.3 mpg on 91 octane (usually I use 93, but that was 3.28 a gallon) . I really want to replace the o2 sensors, I have 2 vacation days later this month and I'm going to be winterizing the mark and my mothers Buick, and I'd like to replace those.

Today I sawwed off the mufflers and I'm happy so far with the results.

As far as the o2 sensors, does anyone have a tech article, maybe with pics? I don't have access to a lift or any major tools (I have a pretty nice socket set, thats about it) so would I be able to do this myself? I have a fuel filter for it (I don't think it was EVER changed, I don't know the previous owners but they were neglectful from what I hear.

Any help is great
