I searched this website to find information about this 5 chimes 5 time in my 2000 LS with no luck. I am sure it has been a topic once or twice. Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix it. I plan on doing clock spring next week as I have the airbag light and my cruise and horn do not work some time. Will this fix the 5 chime thing also? Thanks for the help.

It's been discussed here several times.
Your owner's manual explains the five sets of five beeps, and several other things you may not know.
It's the warning that your SRS light isn't working and there is a problem with your SRS.

what could be the cause and how can it be fixed?

SRS light isn't working: Cause: Probably bulb burned out. Fix: replace bulb
SRS fault: Cause: usually the failure of the clock spring or the in-line connector under the seat. Fix: locate bad part and replace with good part.

If you want more detail, search some of the hundred or so threads on this.

i replaced my clockspring not that long ago. by replacing the bulb do you mean the one in the middle of the speedometer?

Yes, that's what he means. The chimes are to tell you that the SRS system dash light failed the system check.

When you start your car you should see a light that looks like a person in a seat with an airbag in front of them. When there is a fault in the SRS system it will flash a two digit code, usually 3-2 (clockspring, but not always) or 3-6 (seat connector or other open circuit in the seat airbag connections / wiring). If that light is burned out, then the car gives you these beeps.

Replace that bulb. Then read the code and search the site for SRS fault for airbag light for the fixes.

I have the same issue...please advise the process of changing a bulb on the instrument panel...is there a DIY on this
